Shop window advertisement 1943
These were placed in a shop window, and changed weekly
In return for displaying this publicity the shopowner & their family were given free tickets to the cinemas
There is a mistake on this board.
John Wayne starred in 'A Lady Takes a Chance', and Frank Morgan starred in 'A Stranger in Town'

The site of the Majestic photographed in 2004
The white wall is all that remains of the cinema, and was part of the rear of the stalls area
The cinema extended from the white wall to Bancroft Road (just before you go round the corner)
Part of the area behind the white wall was occupied by the Hippodrome cinema **
The Hippodrome started life in the silent days (1912), and was demolished a few years before the Majestic
The foyer of this is now the Newsagents, and the Lighting shop in Bell Street
The original front outline of the Hippodrome can still be seen from the opposite side of Bell Street
The Screen Cinema is the building with the red door

Bancroft Road Site of the Majestic now occupied by the Screen Cinema & Offices
