MQ174
Elf projector. Model NT1.Optical sound only
If the aperture plate tension coil springs are removed for cleaning, or other purpose,
make sure that the shorter of the two springs is replaced in the upper portion of the gate
Failure to do this may cause bad focus, picture jump, and undue wear on the film, and gate
Never remove the side gate runners, especially the spring activated inside runner
Getting this set back to the correct position, and tension,  is a nightmare without the correct tools
Believe me I know
These machines have a tendency to go out of  focus on one side of the picture
This is caused by the lens holder locking screw coming loose
This is situated behind the lens holder barrel
To reset focus place the machine square to the screen, about 8ft away, and project a white focussed light
Turn the lens holder adjusting screw untill both sides of the projected aperture are sharp
You might have to adjust focus whilst doing this
Retighten the locking screw
This machine does not like self lacing with the new 'plastic' type film
It is better to lace manually if you use this type of film as a leader, or white spacing
Apart from the above I have had very little trouble with this machine
An instruction book for this machine is available
