The Danson 540 optical sound made in 1959

This projector is unusual as the operating side is on the left
Also it only has one sprocket (I have marked this with a black blob)
This sprocket doubles as a feed and a sound scanning drum
It also had optical racking (framing)
A very simple machine to operate, and it coped very well with damaged sprocket holed film
The only problem that I had with my projector was that I had to leave the non operating side
door open slightly to allow the heat from the 750w lamp to escape despite a cooling fan being fitted
If this was not done then the lamp life was very limited
A very bad design fault
